Schoodic Peninsula, Acadia National Park, Maine

We spent three days at the newly dedicated Schoodic Woods Campground in Acadia National Park on Oct. 10th through 12th.  We can't say enough positive things about this facility.  Unfortunately, we didn't take many pictures, but the campground is wonderful with many miles of hiking trails and more than eight miles of bike paths.  We biked the Schoodic Loop, including the most impressive Schoodic Point.  The Campground is now closed for the season, but if your future plans include Acadia on Mount Desert, don't miss a side trip to Schoodic.

Shakedown Cruise to Cape Breton

We took a six day shakedown cruise to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia from Sept. 24 through the 29, stopping in Saint Martin, New Brunswick, Baddeck, Pleasant Bay and Inverness, Nova Scotia.  We drove the Cabot Trail (highly recommend), played golf at Bell Bay Golf Club and rode bikes down the Celtic Shores Scenic Trail on Cape Breton's west coast.  We stopped at both Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs incredible golf courses, which we must play on our next trip.  Our new home on wheels performed flawlessly and slowly we are getting familiar with all the systems. We tentatively plan to begin our extended trip across country on January 15.  More to follow.

Introduction

We are Walt & Marie Epply, live in Coastal Maine, are newly retired and new to blogging and RV travel.  After a fair amount of research, we purchased a 22 ft. Airstream Interstate Motor Home with the intent of spending one or more winters on the road in warmer climes.  We are planning a few short shakedown cruises before setting out in January for several months of travel through the southwest US, California, then north to San Francisco.
PS Walt will be maintaining the blog, and I'll pipe in from time to time as a "PS," like right now: we also hope to make it to Vancouver and Vancouver Island. -Marie

We have spent the last three winters in Florida, but this year we thought we would take a different approach.  In either case, as beautiful as it is, below you will see what we are hoping to avoid. Somewhere in that snowbank is our lightpost and mailbox.
