Bill and Judy Darby from the Island Country Club recommended "The Springs" to us this past summer. Driving to the Park from Joshua Tree National Park, both Marie and I wondered what Bill had gotten us into. We drove through miles of cactus covered desert, where we saw maybe a dozen cars an hour, no homes, stores, gas stations or wildlife (maybe a few vultures). Occasionally there was a slight curve in the road to slow traffic. We came through the town of Salton Sea, CA where, if there's a hell on earth, we found it. Building lots were for sale for $6995. We took no pictures because nobody would believe we were there by choice.
In any case, we arrived in Borrego Springs about 2 pm, filled up with diesel fuel at $3.99 a gallon. Once again, Bill's name came up. Then we headed to the resort. Here in the middle of the Colorado Desert, embedded within the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, with the Santa Rosa mountains to the West, lies an incredible oasis. The Springs at Borrego is without question the nicest RV resort I have visited. The Park has it's own 9 hole, par 36 championship golf course, an amazing clubhouse, saltwater pool, four mineral water spas, yoga, tennis, pickle ball and all of this surrounded by lush green foliage and large palm trees. The people here, both the staff and the residents, go over the top to help you out and make sure you have a great time. We have been here for 5 days with 9 more to follow and hope to hike, bike, golf, pickle (is that a verb?) and sight see to Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, among others. Bill is off the hook; in fact, we owe him!

We'll post at least one more update before we leave here and head to San Diego on Sat, March 12.
Great post Walt. Glad to have you in my debt. Might consider selling debt to Dana
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you like the springs. Ca diesel is damn expensive - sorry. When you get to Vancouver by all means go to the island and see the bushart gardens. Can't spell French but I will have you in my debt again if you go
-- just an awesome place to see!!
I'll
Walt. When you get to San Diego, you might want to take a day and go to balboa state park zoo. Best zoo on the world. Sounds corny but it is really special
