Bill, The Grandchildren and San Francisco

We arrived in the Palo Alto area on Thursday, March 30 and checked into The Residence Inn in Newark, CA for four nights.  This extravagance is due to Marriott Reward Points bestowed on us by our gracious son-in-law, Brandon and his wife, our daughter Caleigh.  With some separation anxiety, guilt and appropriate farewells, we left Vanessa in the parking lot.  After settling in, we departed in a rental car to meet Bill and the grands, Elizabeth and Casey at E's T-Ball game.  Afterwards, we had dinner together.

Elizabeth, below, tells me of my beard: "The hair on your face moved from the hair on your head, through your nose, to your chin".  Then, she says, "...and it's very painful."  Now I know.

On Saturday we took a day trip into San Francisco, had lunch at  Pier 39, visited with the sea lions, and walked to Ghirardelli Square and Chinatown. (PS We walked our socks off in Chinatown. -Marie)

On Sunday, our last day here, we attended Elizabeth's field hockey practice and said so long, until our next visit.

We absolutely loved our time with Bill and the girls and, once again, separation anxiety sets in.  Tomorrow we move on to Humboldt County, CA and the coastal Redwood region.  We reluctantly decided to skip Yosemite this trip. (PS I can't ignore Shakespeare in my ear, "Parting is..." You know the rest.
